About Atilla Bijen Jalili
Atilla Bijen Jalili, who goes by Bijen, is General Manager of SolServices Kft., a Budapest-based solar developer and independent power producer. On this site he publishes analysis of Hungary's open power data and plain-language explainers on solar and wind technology.
What this site publishes
Three kinds of work. Data studies answer one question about Hungary's power system from public data, such as how often day-ahead prices went negative in the first year of 15-minute trading, with a downloadable dataset. Explainers cover the technical ideas behind solar and wind projects, from performance ratio to hail testing. Calculators let you test the numbers yourself.
The perspective is a practitioner's: the questions are the ones that come up when solar parks are financed, built and operated in Hungary. The methods page sets out where every number comes from.
How the work is made
Data studies are computed by a script from cached public data, so the figures on a page come straight from the data rather than being typed in. Nothing published here uses SolServices' confidential data.
He is not an academic researcher and the site does not present itself as peer-reviewed science. Errors are corrected openly: email contact@bijenjalili.com with the page and the issue.
